In order for us to create the footage that we desired, we took photographs of our special effect and then used CGI in post-production to create the movement. The videos that were shot for our special effects didn't work well for our production, due to lighting changing. The 3 images attached below are raw footage of our title sequence.

Logging Rushes

Once we recorded our footage that we needed for our title sequence scene, before going editing and masking out in after effects, we needed to review the footage and log them in order to see which shots would be useable or not, so it will be easier for us to import them. Here is a screenshot of our logging rush table:

The 2 shots I have uploaded are shots that were mentioned in my logging rush. This shot was intended to use for 2 different scenes, for the first scene where the spaceship comes out of the earth and the last scene where the spaceship moves across the screen from left to right as the name of the show appears. The reason we decided to use this useable shot was due to the lighting, in the non-useable footage you can see that the green screen is extremely lighter and the which makes the shot very explicit and will be hard to key out and change the contrast through editing. Therefore me and my partner decided to take an approach and film it against a darker green screen which will allow us to key it out well and efficiently and not waste too much time with changing the contrast of the scale model in editing. 

For the footage we said that isn’t suitable is because of the lighting in the footage, we knew that if we were to use this for our production, it would be really hard to key out and take a longer time than expected. Although the shots were taken well, the issue was the lighting so in order to avoid any delay any time trying to edit it to the best of the ability, we just used the footage we believed would be suitable to edit without causing any delay or disruption to the editing time limit we gave ourselves.

I believe that if we fixed the lighting during filming then the footage would have came out well.
